British airways cancel flights leaving families unable to be together during the Christmas holidays
Due to COVID-19 many families who were due to travel for the holidays will not be able to due to a travel ban.
As the half term and Christmas holiday quickly approaches families would normally start planning their trips to enjoy the holidays in a place other than home.
However, the global pandemic has now put a stop to this. Many countries worldwide have had a travel ban due to the rise in cases throughout the past few months.
Some people planned on travelling to the USA, but Donald Trump has conducted travel to protect the health and wellbeing of all Americans.
Trump also said “We will review the situation at a later date to hopefully plan on an early opening”
Families are devastated as they planned on spending the holidays together but since the arisen of the pandemic, everything has changed.
I asked a member of the public, Tiarnnah Hippolyte, how she felt about this situation and she said “ I have recently joined University and so far it has not been the experience I thought it would be… my sister planned on coming from New Jersey to spend my 21st birthday with me but British airways had cancelled her flight.”
Miss Hippolyte also said that this situation has made her, and her family distressed, and she feels as if “Everything is already ruined and won’t ever be the same”
Another member of the public, Kojo Kwadjo, said: “I was told I may have to self-isolate before returning home from university. I wish everything go back to how it was in 2019 so I could just be safe around my family again”.
