Empire coventry - Article

Students in Coventry warned about scammers promoting a party in Empire Coventry whilst the venue itself state there are no parties during the current pandemic.

This party had been advertised through social media meaning many students had purchased tickets to be able to attend a party that does not exist as an old location.

It contained phrases such as “Coventry's biggest freshers party” and “the party you’ve all been waiting for after lockdown!” which was set to lure innocent students from all over the region.

Due to coronavirus clubs all over the UK are being shut and do not have a set date to when they are reopening.

Despite this, the description had said thousands of students would attend this event although the rule of six applies in every public and private place including homes.

On Facebook, the Empire stated “SCAM WARNING! THIS EVENT HAS BEEN LISTED AS AN EVENT AT EMPIRE FAR GOSFORD ST. WE HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS EVENT & OUR FAR GOSFORD STREET VENUE IS CLOSED – DO NOT BUY TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT”

Although students would like to experience the full excitement of fresher's week, they must understand that for things to return to normal they must obey the covid-19 laws.

Similar events were being announced in other areas of the midlands which were also advertised on Eventbrite.

The community must take steps to protect students from scammers who tend to prey on them.

Eventbrite has unpublished these events to stop students from purchasing any more tickets.
