Mental health - Article

It is found that many students experience mental health issues during university. But what shall others do to aid them?

Many people of all ages can experience a wave of sadness occasionally, but some people experience sadness that can last up to a few weeks.

This could be a sign of depression. However, the symptoms of mental health can be shown in a different way such as being numb and feeling low.

Nevertheless, other people's symptoms may not be as obvious as someone else's and they may want to keep it this way to not worry family and friends.

Whilst being in higher education staff and students should be able to have a mental health check occasionally and this can be done by simply checking up on people.

An organisation based on mental health (WPCS – with pain comes strength) said “To help those experiencing mental health issues you must understand them and advise them to seek help from an expert. Heck in on them so that they know someone cares and they are not alone”

Students should try helping one another so that the cases of mental health in university gradually decline with fewer cases of suicide due to stress.

MIND mental health service had also said “the coronavirus pandemic is having a huge impact on our mental health. Therefore, students that may have been struggling before maybe even worse this year”

Are universities doing everything they can to ensure that students are all right?
