SARS BAN: Police brutality is an extreme experience in Nigeria and protesters have had enough
Protesters all over Africa, Europe, and Canada have joined together demanding that the special anti-robbery squad or Sars must be put to an end.
Although Sars has been banned they are furious at the fact that this officer has been employed to other police units rather than being disciplined.
Once the news that the police officers that were included in Sars were just redeployed the numbers of protesters rapidly increased.
The situation seemed to have angered so many people that celebrities paused their careers to come out and protest with other campaigners.
Just like the UK and the USA, this is not the first time a protest based on police brutality has been done in Nigeria.
Although there has been protest going on for the last 4 days based on the police brutality, this has not seemed to have stopped the police from using weapons against protesters as they peacefully protest.
Another artist, Davido, also joined in with the protest within Nigeria.
It wasn’t until he had joined in the protest that the police decided to stop using extensive force on protesters.
Those affected by this movement only want a few things to be done so that they can be satisfied with the system that the police run.
Just like those that protest for George Floyd, Mark Duggan and many other black individuals that were killed by the police, these protesters want justice.
Each year the government promises change, but nothing has been done.
